An early Victorian gold, diamond and enamel novelty pocket watch, circa 1840. Designed as a padlock, with blue guilloche enamel and rose-cut diamond keyhole front, opening to reveal the watch face, the reverse with locket compartment. Together with original key. Cuvette engraved Fred’c Courvoisier. Length 4.7cms. Total weight 38.1gms.

Seller condition description:  
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • The padlock section to the top hinges open with a clasp to one side.
  • Locket section is oval with glass cover.
  • Reverse of locket with shallow dents.
  • Back plate to the watch section has a screw deficient and is slightly dented.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Estimated total diamond weight under 0.10ct.
  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
  • Enamel with slight surface scratches.
  • Top opens via a grooved push button.
  • The watch is curently ticking.
  • May be in need of attention.
