Big Tree Keys was founded to showcase my collection of Keys and Locks and provide resources for those looking to begin collecting.
Specializing in 1800s safe and vault, mechanical, folding, dual-purpose, European, and other unique Keys, my collection began around 2006 out of my love for collecting antique and vintage goods. As an engineer, I was drawn to locks and keys due to their complex designs and intricate details. After spending some time evaluating the more commonly available keys and locks, I decided to focus on keys with mechanical aspects such as changeable bits, hinges, and springs. These keys are available in a variety of forms ranging from smaller pocket door keys to larger gate and safe lock keys. As my collection has grown, I have branched out to include non-mechanical safe keys and fine European keys. While my collection specializes in these categories, if I see something truly unique I am still highly interested in having it for my collection and learning more about it. I still yearn for the day when I can acquire a masterpiece key made by one of the greats of the time. As far as locks go, I collect the locks associated with the above keys and any others that either have a unique appearance, function, or calling to me. I also have a library of lock and key related books spanning most ages and places.
