  Antique Victorian Owl and Floral Design Folding Pocket Door Key Rare Key 14a  

This is a very unique and rare antique pocket door key with an art deco owl decor on one side and an abstract floral pattern on the other. The key was made by the Nashua Lock company for an Eastlake pocket door lock set. This key is from the Victorian era, likely circa 1880 and is composed of brass. It folds in the middle. One side has an owl and cubist pattern (one set of cubes which creates an abstract owl face) and the other side has a sun extruding rays for the leaves. This is a very unique pocket door key, and is one of the more elaborate ones I have seen.

Antique Pocket Door Key Bar Top with Screw on Shaft Key 5a This key is a fairly common antique pocket door key made of brass. This key utilizes a screw above the bit in the shaft to adjust the length of the key. The screw turns freely and uses pressure on the inner shaft portion that is connected to the bar shaped top to lock the length in place. Although it is hard to see in the pictures, this key does have a unique design element. Antique Pocket Door Key with Propeller Shaped Top and Screw

Antique Pocket Door Key Propeller Top Screw Bit Key 4a   This is a fairly common style of an antique pocket door key. The top is a propeller shape and the length of the key is adjusted by a screw at the end of the shaft. The construction of the screw mechanism is quite interesting. The key is in 3 pieces: 1 a long shaft connected to the propeller shaped bow with a female screw location inside; 2 a hollow piece with the visible portion of the shaft, the bit, and a larger female screw location on the very tip; and 3 a screw that has a wider section on the end to screw into piece 2 and a narrower section to connect into piece 1. When unscrewed entirely the length of the key can be adjusted and the shaft can even be turned. Antique Pocket Door Key Round Top Key 3b This is a more common antique pocket door key with a round bow and screw to adjust the length of the shaft. The key is made of brass and the screw is a little rusty. This antique pocket door key is dual toned and composed of two metals. The upper half is brass while the lower half is attracted to a magnet and probably made of steel. The unusual shaped bit contains the text “2F2072” on one side and no writing on the other. I am uncertain exactly what that stands for, but it is possibly a code for that specific bit cutting.
